ALBA-TCP Political Council meets in Caracas on Tuesday

Caracas is going to host the 13th Political Council of the Bolivarian Alliance for the People of Our America – People's Trade Agreement (ALBA-TCP) on Tuesday, informed Venezuela's Foreign Ministry at a message posted to its Twitter profile.

Via @vencancilleria, the Venezuelan foreign ministry detailed that the event is going to be attended by representatives of Bolivia, Ecuador, Nicaragua, Cuba, Dominica and Saint Lucia.

Ecuadorian foreign minister Ricardo Patiño confirmed his attendance to the event, Prensa Latina reported.

Patiño explained that ALBA is going to discuss several issues such as strengthening institutions and actions to tighten commercial, economic relations and productive complementariness among member states.

ALBA was created in 2004 by revolutionary leaders Fidel Castro and Hugo Chavez. Currently, it gathers Venezuela, Cuba, Bolivia, Nicaragua, Dominica, Saint Lucia, Ecuador, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, and Antigua and Barbuda.

Patiño also told the media that they are expected to discuss about an economic zone between ALBA and Petrocaribe, as well as general political issues.

ALBA-TCP Political Council is made up by foreign ministers of each member state. It aims at giving advisory to the Presidential Council of the bloc in strategic political matters, as well as to raise proposals in matters of international politics.

Furthermore, this Council helps to give strategic coordination and guidance for the smooth operation of the Alliance, reads the website of ALBA-TCP.
