The Embassy of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, the Consulate General of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela in San Francisco and Chevron Corporation cordially invite you to the upcoming concerts of Afro-Venezuelan group Eleggu?, which will take place in the Bay Area, California.
Eleggu? is a Venezuelan group of 10 women who 12 years ago decided to play percussion instruments that were traditionally just played by men. With African roots flowing through their veins, the 10 women are direct descendents of the African slaves that cultivated cacao and coffee along the coast of Venezuela. The members of Eleggu? are a perfect example of the role women can play in expressing Venezuela?s cultural roots.
The concert series of Eleggu? in California will take place on July 17th at the Oakland Museum Theatre in Oakland; July 18th at the Mission Cultural Center in San Francisco, and at the Pena Cultural Center in Berkeley, California on July 19th .
